what color should i paint my room?

this is my bed room furnature:http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/c/0/0/2f/7/AAAADB4xlxsAAAAAAC948Q.jpg?v=1233706306000 i’ve also take the little glow in the dark stars and strung them up on the slats with fishing line, and i wrapped some hair ribbons around the poles and stuck my horse show ribbons on them,

what colors would go with this room? i was going to do like a half light purple the other half teal with a brown stripe running horisontallly between the two colors.like the teal on the top by the ceiling and then the brown stripe then the purple buy the baseboards. but then i was told that bedding colors always clash with the bedding its self. :/ what colors would look good?
i was also thinging maybe going around the room from left to right, light to dark purple
my room is white right now, its been like this since we moved in 3 years ago

You definitely want to have difference between your bedding and walls. Choose blue or purple (or another color) but not both. You could go all darker – a dark purple for example could look really cool, especially with the darker frame. You could also stick with a pastel kind of blue – my personal fav. I like the idea of the middle stripe with different colors above and below. Maybe purple or blue below with much paler blue or paler purple or white above. I would keep the stripe pretty thin though, or if possible make it shaped similar to the curly pattern on the purple part of the bed and curtains – could be hard to find or do though.
