Buying Fishing Reel Guide

using braided fishing line?
i have a g. loomis glx or i think imx baitcasting rod and im finally going to get a baitcasting reel for it and i was wondering what pound test of braid is good for bass and how do i no if the braid wont cut grooves into my rod guides and wat color braid should i buy… the waters i fish is moderate to stained and sometimes clear
Color is up to you. Most people prefer the green lines, mainly because it’s not the yellow or orange options. I use green.
Depending on what application you are using the braid for, it will predetermine your lb-test that you’ll want to use. That’s too difficult to tell you without more info.
As for the grooving of the guides, that’s also a hard one to answer without more info. The older Loomis rods are going to carry Alconite guides one the IMX and some of the GLX models. Otherwise, the rest of the older GLX’s had a mix of guides, but mainly came with SiC’s. Both are MORE than enough to stand up to today’s braids. The new IMX’s also come with Alconites, and are fine for braid. The GLX’s however, are a different story. The RECOIL guides SUCK in my opinion. They WILL grove and are horrible for braid. The SiC’s on the rest of the GLX’s are fine.
