Carp Fishing Shops
my carp are flashing but there is no sign on them to say why?
It’s only the koi and the mirror carp that are doing it and I have grass carp and orfe that don’t. I can’t see anything on them and can’t understand why they would be doing this. It’s a new pond, the water is clean and the fish are all new, is there a chance that one or two had something from the shop I got them from and could they have passed it on within a few days too? Any help would be great because when ever I go to a fish store they always try to sell me stuff that I don’t need like blue dye. Help PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Flashing can be caused by flukes, anchor worm, or almost any parasite. Rapid changes in water quality, residual chlorine or metals and large additions of fresh water. The fish’s skin needs to adapt to the difference in pH. Black plastic that contains UV stabilizers and elasticizers can cause flashing.
Treatment: check and treat for parasites, use a dechlorinator and never allow your fish to be in contact with “novel” plastics.
