I live in St. Paul. I’m going fishing up by Grand Marais. I would like it cheap. I’ve been to like every website I can find. I also need a boat trailer. Top I will spend for one day is 50 bucks. Thank you so much if you help. I’ve been looking on the web for abouth 2 straight days.

As a sea fishing enthusiast, I know I sometimes seem obsessed with my gear. But when you’re standing on a wind-swept beach fighting a hefty fish on your line, it’s then you appreciate the quality sea fishing tackle you’ve acquired. Here’s some information about a new reel from one of my favourite brands, Daiwa. Read on to learn about the Saltist lever drag multiplier reel, one that’s quickly become an essential item in my tackle box.
About the Daiwa Saltist Lever Drag Multiplier Reel
This is a reel built to endure the rugged conditions of sea fishing. With mainly metal components, the LD surpasses many competitors’ reels that have less durable graphite parts. Keeping true to the tradition of previous successful Saltist reels, one feature I like about the LD is that it’s built to handle super-strong braided line, along with the usual mono filament. I also appreciate that the frame and side plates are made from a single piece of rigid and durable aluminium to eliminate the annoying body flex I find on other brands of reels.
Features of the Daiwa Saltist LD Reel
The Saltist LD has up to 30% more winding power than others in its class, being able to pull in over one metre of line with every turn of the handle. With six CRBBs (corrosion resistant ball bearings) and a roller bearing as well, I’ve found that this reel has a sturdy and reliable drive train that provides ultra-smooth cranking power. The reel’s main gears are machined from a type of stainless steel stock that’s exclusive to Daiwa. This contributes extra-high strength and an exceptionally smooth retrieve, thanks to tight tolerances. The gear ratio is designed to deliver power, and the rigid frame lends amazing stability. The all new UTD (ultimate tournament drag) system features stainless steel plates along with a grease-impregnated fibre washer. This results in a superlative drag pressure that’s up to 22% greater than the competition. This is a wet drag system that maintains maximum contact with the disc’s surface whilst combating any heat that may impact performance.
More Features of the Saltist LD Reel
I do like this reel’s fast, one-touch gear shift and the offset power handle with a rounded EVA speed knob. On single speed models, you’ll find a dual, infinite anti-reverse with a precision machined ratchet. There’s also a machined aluminium spool. Backed by a solid 5-year warranty from Daiwa, the Saltist LD sells for about £260.00. Also contributing to the Saltist LD’s incredible strength is that Daiwa used a helical stainless steel gear system that’s well anchored in an extremely rigid metal frame. The angled helical cut of the gears is designed to give a smoother and quieter retrieve than many competitors’ straight-cut, spur type gears.
For the rigours of sea fishing, you need the best sea fishing tackle you can afford. The Daiwa Saltist LD reel is a worthy investment. I recommend it without reservation.
