I want to go fishing what rod do I need?

Me and my friends want to go fishing, were pretty novice to fishing in rivers and lakes but Ive found this rod/reel set is it reasonable for its price and will do the job? Im 21 so I dont want to be mugged off with a kiddies set. But then again I dont want to spend more than £10-£15.

hey man, the rod and reel set up you have listed will be ok if you are only going to fish everynow and again. I am not too big on the telescopic rod because everyjoint is another weak point in the rod. i am not saying that the rod is week what i am saying is that every rod and i dont care how expensive it is has a weak spot (nothing is perfect) and with the telescopic rod there are more week spots than most other rods. I would recommend using a zeco 33 rod and reel combo. they are inexpensive, durable, and very well built. this reel and rod combo is probably the best rod and reel combo for a beginner fisherman. wouldnt take the zebco to the saltwater because i dont know how durable the grears are to the saltwater and there is actually no telling what is swimming around in the water, the zebco might not be able to handle it. if you want to step it up, i would suggest the abu garcia cardinal series reel. this reel is a very great spinner reel and it (i dont know the breakdown from US dollars to****pounds-i think*****) but in US dollars it usually runs about 30-40 dollars all depending on where you go. I would suggest a shakespear ugly stick, 6′6” to a 7” rod medium action rod. and all depending on where you go they run 30-40 dollars. that is a great rod. I have nothing by shakespear brand rods in my house I just love the shakespear rods. I started using them when i was a youngbuck just for the fact that they were inexpensive but i quickly learned that this brand is a great rod. there are other combos out there that shakespear puts out (rod and reel) and they are pretty good reel too. man i hope that all this jibberish has helped out a bit. good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience
