Can anyone explain what is CAST WEIGHT of a fishing rod? i’m gonna buy a fishing rod with these specs :- CAPERLAN brand, full fibreglass rod, 7 feet in length , size: 1.13cm, ceramic guides, polyamide reel seat and metal rings. Ferrule part connectors. EVA handle and 30-50g cast weight, —— so i wanna know is this a good product for sea fishing and for big fish, what is the maximum weight can handle by this rod, the store guy says i can catch up to 50 Lbs (pounds) max, is it true? please help me…
Cast weight is just that, the weight a fishing rod is able to make a cast. To little weight the rod might not cast properly. Or to much weight the rod tip or mid section might crack or burst.
Fiberglass is well suited for the type of fishing you want, especially for beginners. When you say ‘big fish’ did you mean 8lb or 100lb. The rod is capable of Ocean fishing, how far, I would have to see in person. Respectfully I say from your details and experience stay within 30lb(fish)… A Tackle Rep will try to give an idea what a rod might fish based on experience and expertise. Generally rods come with labels saying the line weight, this entails the fish weight also as many lines unless rated IGFA will break 2 to 4 pounds over its breaking strength. 30-50g lure weight is another tell if the rod will handle fish in that range 50lb. Assuming the rod is well made and you’re an experienced Angler I say try….Just because you are an experienced Angler doesn’t mean you will be able to catch a 50lb fish on that rod, quality components and workmanship is as important.
