Fishing Tackle For Beginners
Can I use course fishing equipment for sea fishing?
Hi,
I’ve just moved to the South East coast (Margate) and would like to start sea fishing, probably from a pier or rocks.
I’m a complete beginner to sea fishing and have nearly no money to spend on equipment (I can probably just about afford some new line and terminal tackle).
Would my 10ft Margin rod or 12ft Feeder be any good to get me going for now? And will my budget reels be up to the job? I’m only looking to catch smaller fish such as mackrel to start with….

Depending what coarse tackle you have, but what you have quoted in your question it does seem that it is somewhat light. “Budget” reels??? I doubt that they will stand up for long, don’t forget that salt will get into them.
