Fly Fishing Reel Brands
i need a little help with fly fishing?
i am just getting into fly fishing, and i want to fly fishing in florida, with bone fish, red fish, snook, trout , and big permit and otehr big fish that eight about 10-30 pound
i am planing on spending about 400-600 dollars on a good reel
and 200-300 on a good rod.
i just don’t know what weight is the best for that kind of inshore fishing
like 9/10 wt?
and what brand of reel adn rod can match my need
I would recommend a 9 or 10 weight. Load it with weight forward line, as you will most likely face a good bit of wind. You can spend what you like, but be careful you are buying a rod and reel, as opposed to buying a name. There are lots of good rods and reels on the market, and with advances in technology, any high modulus graphite rod is good. I own several outfits, ranging from a 9′ 8-weight to a 6′ 3-weight. Brands range from St. Croix Legend Ultra to a beautiful custom made 7′8″ 3-weight. None has effectively outperformed my Temple Fork Outfitters rod, which, paired with a Lamson Velocity Reel, has landed several respectable small mouth bass. I have less than $400 in the whole outfit, even including the $245 price tag on the reel. It is a 9′ 8-weight, and I believe a 9- or 10-weight will land even the toughest bone fish.
The most important thing is that you are comfortable with the outfit you choose. Let personal feel be the final determining factor. Good luck.
