How To Tie A Fishing Reel Knot

how to load fishing line onto a closed faced spinning reel?
I am not a fishing expert ! just bought my daughter a closed faced spinning reel. (a zebco 3300 I think) I had her out practicing and now its tangled in the reel. I had to take all the line off. Now I don’t know how to load it with line. Here is the deal. If I tie it onto the spool it just winds up without grabbing the line. I noticed when you push the button in that on the top it opens up a little should I tie knot the line in there? signed confused father.
strip of all but the last 10 – 15 feet. tie the new line to that and fill the reel. use that from now on. it should last and be well below the line you are actually fishing with.
peek under the cap now and then to be sure you are not overfilling it.
keep tension on the line by running it through your fingers.
lay the filler spool flat on the floor, reel in 10 or 15 feet, lower the rod tip to see if the line is coiling up and twisting around itself. if so, turn the filler spool over and continue. if not, no problem. fill it on up.
if you reel it off the new spool of line wrong it will get twisted and negatively affect your fishing and casting.
do not stick a pencil through the spool to fill any type of spinning reel.
if you have already removed all the line, take the cap off, run the new line through the hole and tie it to the spool with a good strong knot. it will need to be snug to the spool. replace the cap and fill it.
good luck to you both!
