Sometimes when my mother gets up during the night to get a drink she sees large black spots and then can’t see

My mother has glaucoma and is on eye drops at bedtime. In the last two years on three occassions she got up during the night for a drink and saw large black spots and then couldn’t see anything for several seconds. We told the eye doctor and he didn’t say anything. It happened twice two years ago and once this year and only lasted a few seconds. Is this serious? The doctor didn’t seem concerned and we took her to two different eye specialists and they couldn’t find any damage behind her eyes.

I have glaucoma and also developed ortho- static hypertension, which causes me to become dizzy and loose vision when I get up suddenly. I found that it goes away as long as I am getting adequate sleep and my stress levels are down. The black spots were also always warning signs for me that my pressures are up and I need to go to the doctor. Usually my pressures were in the 30-50 range when I starting seeing black spots.
