Perch Lures

is it a waste of time spinning for pike & perch between October – March because of the winter temperatures?

I spin for pike and perch in UK canals, however I haven’t caught anything since last October, so is it not really worth lure fishing during the winter months, or is there anything I can do to increase my chances of catching a pike or perch during the cold winter months?

Use a slower retrieve lure. A Rebel Hellgrammite is an excellent option, as it is designed for slow retrieve. Perch actually love cold water, so that’s not an issue. Try the lure I mentioned, and switch your fishing time also. I’ve found that, while ice fishing, that the best times for perch were early morning, and evening.
