What is a good bait-casting reel and rod.?

I’m going pike and muskie fishing later this month and I want to know what a good bait-casting rod and reel are . I would also like to know what pound test line I should try, I was thinking 10-12lb.

Your tackle is really like finding a best friend, it just depends on what you like. I would suggest you find a good local bait shop and try out what you like. There are different size grips and lengths that you need to explore. The same is true with reels. You’ll own this for a long time, so you can think about a reel that might work with various size fish. The line wt. seems a bit much. The lighter the line the more fun you have bringing the fish in. Personally, I like Shimano products. Abu Garcia makes great products as well.

If you have time, visit In-Fisherman. They often have some recommendations and test the latest equipment. You have to be careful not to be like me. I love these bait shops and buy almost eveything in sight. And it may not hurt to look at other items, these fish often have some small shrp teeth. But they taste mighty good. Good Luck!
