Zebco Fishing Reels Baitcasting
baitcasting rod over closed face rod?
I have a Zebco 33 that I’ve had for about 5 years. Me and my buddy went bass fishing last weekend, and he brought his baitcaster. He told me I should get one (personally, I’m not paying over 50 bucks for a reel)and I shrugged it off. It had been four hours. He’d caught seven, I had two. We both had the same baits, Yum crawdads. He pointed his success to his rod. I was just wondering, what, if anything, makes a baitcaster superior to another rod?
shane, baitcasters are reels and closed faced thingies aren’t rods they are also reels. The rods are the same for both too, usually pistol grip or pitching sticks. But hey, anglers are only as good as their equipment allow them to be, especially when they have practiced all there is to know about it. I’ve see 35 inch halibut taken on a zebco 33 the spincast reel is for beginners spinning reels are the next progression (and in a very few circumstances spinning gear has an advantage like skip casting) but the design of the winch reel (baitcaster reel) is perfect in it’s own right. The line is not nicked, twisted or worn out by the inferior design of the reel itself getting the line on the spool and closed faced reels (push button casting reels) spincasters and spinning reels are inferior in design for that very controversial reason. Once you perfect the casting of a baitcaster you own the water you are on and believe me there is no one who can prove any different. no one
